At Grundon, we're all about innovation and advancements in technology – so, if you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and get stuck into a new fleet-work job that offers upskilling opportunities, we have a lot to offer at our clean and well-equipped vehicle workshop near Reading.
What you’ll be doing as HGV Technician
As well as preparing new vehicles (including EVs) for release into service, our six workshops also look after all Grundon commercial fleet issues, such as correcting daily defects, service maintenance and MOTs. Joining a small team of six HGV Technicians, you will maintain a mixed fleet of rigid and articulated vehicles to high standards in line with DVSA requirements.
Subject to satisfactory progress, we will put you through training to achieve IMI level 4 (Electric Vehicle Course) and your IRTEC Large Vehicle Inspection qualification, as well as manufacturer body training courses for a wide variety of equipment types. No HGV licence? No problem – again, we’ll put you through the training.
What you’ll need
Large goods vehicle experience, and ideally, you’re qualified or semi-skilled (City & Guilds HGV Parts 1, 2 & 3 or NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent). If you don’t have those qualifications, then you must have 10 years’ experience working on HGV vehicles. You'll need your own tools too.
Why Grundon – and what’s in it for you
We believe in nurturing talent and offer plenty of training and professional development opportunities. We’re all about innovation and advancements in technology and have an ongoing annual £5 million investment programme which aims to deliver a greener and cleaner collection fleet.
You can expect a perks and benefits package that includes:
- Discretionary company bonuses
- Pension scheme (you contribute 5% of pay, Grundon matches this) with life insurance cover
- 31 days’ annual leave (inclusive of 8 bank holidays), which will increase with service, plus the option to buy up to 5 extra days' holiday
